Victor Prince is a leadership author, speaker, trainer, and coach and is the Managing Director of Discovered LOGIC LLC.
His latest book, The Camino Way: Lessons in Leadership from a Walk Across Spain (HarperCollins, July 2017) has reached the Top 100 Bestseller lists in 8 categories on Amazon.com‘s ebook store, ranging from Business Leadership to Travel Writing. It was mentioned as a top business book of 2017 by Canada’s Globe and Mail newspaper, is stocked in 1,000+ public library systems in 30 countries across six continents, and is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
His first book, Lead Inside the Box: How Smart Leaders Guide their Teams to Exceptional Results (Career Press, 2015), has reached the Top 20 in 3 categories on Amazon.com’s ebook store (Leadership, Teams, Management), is stocked by public libraries across three continents, and has been translated into Chinese and Korean. Victor delivers keynote presentations based on his books and several other topics.
Victor is a corporate trainer with thoughtLEADERS LLC. He has trained students across 13 time zones in leadership, communications, and strategic problem-solving techniques.
Victor is a Certified Executive Coach who has helped clients in the US and overseas. He specializes in helping clients in the financial services and private equity industries. He brings a business-driven approach to coaching inspired by his time as a management consultant.
Previously, Victor had 20+ years of experience in corporate and government leadership positions using and teaching leadership, communication and analytical skills.
Victor was a consultant and case team leader for Bain & Company, a leading management consulting firm. He worked on and led strategy engagements with clients in the US, UK, France and Spain. While at Bain, he was also a trainer in the two-week intensive session held annually to train new college hires from all of Bain’s global offices in all aspects of Bain’s consulting methodology.
Most recently, Victor was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). In that role, he was a founding member of the team that built the new federal regulatory agency. He ran a division of 300+ staff and $100 million+ of budget that included human resources, finance, travel, procurement, facilities, security, information technology, equal employment opportunity, and the consumer complaint response center.
Prior to that, Victor was a member of Washington DC Mayor Fenty’s cabinet as the Director of CapStat, the performance accountability program to improve performance of the $10 billion local government. In that role, he also served as the coordinator (“czar”) for the District’s implementation of the $240 million in federal funding received from the 2009 Recovery Act.
Victor was a Senior Director of Marketing & Analysis with Capital One responsible for internet marketing strategy. His team won a Center of Excellence award for success in web site strategy. He also taught several sessions of a full day course on structured problem-solving and writing to Capital One associates.
Victor was head of marketing for Webs.com, a do-it-yourself website building property with over 20 million sites built. In that role, he set up the email infrastructure and strategy, built a performance data dashboard, and launched advertising campaigns on Facebook and Google. Webs.com was purchased for $117 million in 2011.
Victor earned an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. While at Wharton, he served as Chair (President) of the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly, the student government representing 10,000+ students in Penn’s twelve graduate and professional schools. A major goal of Victor’s student government presidency (and previous and subsequent GAPSAs) was to lobby the university to provide a dedicated space on campus for graduate and professional students across Penn’s 12 schools to meet. That vision came to fruition with the opening of Penn’s Graduate Student Center in 2001.
He earned a BA in International Studies and Economics (magna cum laude) from American University in Washington DC.
In addition, Victor has served in volunteer community service roles, including as a mayorally-appointed member of the DC Police Complaints Board and as a pro-bono consultant to a non-profit organization, Compass DC. Victor has served as the General Manager of the Carlstad Crusaders, an American football club in Sweden, and won the Scandinavian Cup in 2023 as GM. He has also been accepted into Mensa.
Victor lives with his wife, Tina, in Sweden and also maintains a base in Indianapolis, Indiana.
When Victor is not at work, you can probably find him biking or hiking a trail somewhere in the world. (Good things happen on trails.)
